Greg is a Southern California native who was born and raised in Burbank, CA. He started swimming competitively when he was 12 years old with the East Valley Y Marlins and finished his age-group club swimming with Rose Bowl Aquatics, where he achieved Jr. National standards in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Greg played water polo and swam, at the Varsity level, all four years of high school at John Burroughs High, where he holds school records in the 100 breast and 200 IM. As a student athlete, at Oakland University in Michigan, he was part of the 1997 NCAA Division II Championship Swimming team. He returned to Southern California, transferred to California State University Northridge and graduated with a BA in English. Greg specializes in open water swimming and continues his love for the sport by competing in multiple open water swims and triathlons each year. He has competed in more than a 30 Triathlons (including 12+ half-iron events, Olympic and Sprint distances) and is currently in his 7th season. Greg is the Director of Aquatics at the East Valley Family YMCA and is also an Open Water Lifeguard for the City of Los Angeles. He is dedicated to educating and helping others learn about the ocean and ocean safety as well as improving their skills as a swimmer and triathlete in and out of the pool.
